Celebrating 18 Years of Dance and Community at Studio One Dance Center

As we enter our 18th season at Studio One Dance Center, it’s a moment of reflection and celebration. From our humble beginnings to becoming a cornerstone of the Fort Worth dance community, our journey has been one of passion, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to providing a safe, nurturing environment for children to explore the fine arts.

A Journey Through Time

Studio One Dance Center was born out of a simple yet powerful vision: to create a space where dance and Christian values could coexist harmoniously. In the early 2000s, our founder recognized a gap in the community. There were no Christian-based dance studios in the area, and there was a growing need for a place where children could learn dance in an environment that upheld elevated standards. With this vision in mind, the first Studio One location opened its doors in a small space off Basswood and Park Vista.

Our inaugural season began with just 30 students, but by the end of the year, that number had grown to 80—a testament to the community’s desire for what Studio One had to offer. As we expanded, we opened a satellite studio in Woodland Springs, further extending our reach and impact. Eventually, we moved into our current building, where we have been proudly serving the community since 2016.

Growing with Purpose

Today, Studio One Dance Center offers over 100 weekly classes, catering to students of all ages and skill levels. From our comprehensive preschool program to our performing companies that minister and engage with the community, we have continually evolved to meet the needs of our students and their families.

We asked our founder to reflect on Studio One's proudest accomplishments over the past 18 years. Among the many highlights, the creation of our annual Nutcracker performance stands out. This event not only showcases our students' talents but also serves a greater purpose: helping children in Haiti. What started from scratch has grown into a cherished tradition, demonstrating the power of dance to make a difference in the world.

Another point of pride is the safe, welcoming environment we have cultivated at Studio One. Our commitment to safety and well-being has always been at the forefront, long before we became a YPAD™ Certified Studio. Every child who walks through our doors is valued, protected, and allowed to explore movement and the fine arts in a space where they can thrive.

A Season of Resilience

Like many organizations, Studio One faced unprecedented challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, through the unwavering dedication of our staff and the support of our community, we not only survived—we thrived. When in-person classes became impossible, our team quickly adapted to offer dance lessons via Zoom, ensuring that our students could continue their training despite the obstacles. We even managed to hold our annual recital, a testament to the resilience and creativity of our entire community.

Looking back, the summer of 2020 was particularly rough, but it also highlighted the strength of the Studio One family. Our collective spirit and commitment to one another helped us navigate those uncertain times, emerging stronger and more united than ever.

Looking Ahead

As we embark on our 18th season, we are filled with gratitude and excitement for the future. Studio One Dance Center has found its home in Fort Worth, and while we don’t have plans to open additional studios, we are more committed than ever to serving our community. We will continue to provide a safe, inspiring space for children to learn, grow, and express themselves through dance.

Thank you to all of our students, families, and supporters who have been part of this incredible journey. Here’s to another season of dance, creativity, and community at Studio One Dance Center!
